Where The MAGIC Begins
Although the Tarot deck technically starts at 0 with THE FOOL, because the energy of that card can represent the beginning or the end of a quest, the Tarot really begins with THE MAGICIAN (1).

THE MAGICIAN (1) kicks the deck off with a spark and glimmer of magic as it symbolizes new beginnings and brand new opportunities. It is associated with Mercury (the planet of communication, information, and intellect), and it is an air element ruling the mental plane.
The figure stands before you with all the elements (fire, air, earth, water) in front on display. As one arm reaches to the sky, and the other points to the ground below, THE MAGICIAN (1) connects the spiritual realm above, with the earth here in the physical world. THE MAGICIAN (1) is the connector of the two, harnessing the powers that be from both sources. The connection to the upper realms helps bring life to the goals here in the physical realm.
With all of the elements at THE MAGICIAN's disposal, the resources are within reach to create whatever is needed here on earth. There is also symbolism in what THE MAGICIAN is wearing as the white robe symbolizes purity, while the red cloak represents experience and knowledge.
This card speaks of unlimited potential as the infinity sign (the snake eating his own tale) shows no beginning and no end, just an ongoing quest to cycle through each journey and experience.
The mental plane is very active with this card, and with that, the information received by the Seeker, the ideas that spark brilliance in one's mind will only grow into bigger aspirations. The flowers surrounding the figure shows that these ideas are blossoming into something that will be very fruitful for many seasons to come.
There is a certain sense of MAGIC that triggers these new opportunities in one’s life when THE MAGICIAN (1) is revealed.

New Moon In Aries
Today, we have our very first New Moon of the new energetic and astrologic calendar, in Aries. With Aries season well under way, you may be feeling all over the place with your energy, drive, and attention.
Normally, Aries season is full force forward, but this year, because of Mercury being in retrograde and MANY planets in Pisces, we've had the brakes put on our actions. Mars, (Aries ruling planet) just made a switch from Taurus (earth) to Gemini (air) which has caused a disruption in our energy. We are still trying to adjust to the overwhelming thoughts and ideas in our mental plane, while our physical energy just isn't up to par.
The New Moon in Aries, will help us get our butts in gear. It is important for us to take some time under the New Moon energy to think of all of the new things we'd like to see happen in our lives over the course of the next 12 months. Because Aries is all about drive, passion, initiative, and new experiences, this New Moon should have you thinking about the new projects you'd like to start, new experiences you'd like to live, new habits you'd like to form, and new ways of creating passion and joy in your life.
Often times, as we build towards a New Moon, our energy takes a dive and we experience situations and emotions that aren't so pleasant. This happens so we can find the root of these issues and use them to create a roadmap of how to never experience them again.
For instance, Aries, because it is always fired up and ready to take action, also has quite the temper. Mars, the warrior planet, is always ready to engage. Many people can experience bouts of anger and aggression prior to a New Moon in Aries, showing you what isn't working in your life, and then showing you where to create new energy in your life to resolve the anger issues.
New Moon energy is more about setting an intention for change than actually implementing it, so stay inside yourself, think of all the changes you'd like to see happen in your life, and make a list of everything that pops into your head.

His loyal companion along side of him proves to offer the protection he needs as he faces the new territory before him. His belongings tied up in a sac, thrown over his shoulder, represents not needing much from this material world.THE FOOL is marked with the number 0 as it is both the beginning and the end of the spirit we embody at the beginning and end of our quest. This card is strongly associated with Uranus and Aquarius, and as an air element.THE FOOL represents the beginning of an idea. The intellectual and intuitional connection Uranus & Aquarius has with the Universe, is what connects THE FOOL to the Universe. His knowing of something greater.

April holds our second Full Moon in Libra, helping us to shut the door for good, on some of the issues we tried to let go of completely back in March.

Mars Enters Gemini
Today, Mars, (the planet of action, energy, passion, and anger) moves into Gemini. This is a very interesting aspect as we jump from having Mars in an earth sign (Taurus) to and air sign (Gemini).
Gemini (being an air sign) rules the mental plane making our minds more active than they have been throughout Pisces season with all the watery emotions clouding our judgement. We have struggled to maintain clarity and had lost our ability to focus on the details.
Gemini also rules information, how we take it in from the world, process and make sense of it, and then communicate and express ourselves outwardly. Gemini is the sign of the zodiac that rules the hands and because of this, we have a lot of energy urging us to DO something with our hands to keep our mind distracted. Mars in Gemini could totally be represented by the saying "Idle hands are the devil's workshop."
Mars is bringing a fire energy to Gemini's air, meaning we have to monitor how much we are fanning that flame. Our minds are going to be all over the place as they come back online. We will be distracted and jumping all over the place. Gemini loves to multi-task, keeping their mental plane active and engaged at all times.
The same goes for this planetary aspect, but there are a few cautions that come with this placement.
First, the fire energy of Mars is impulsive. It would rather act now and think later. If we act on these impulses, you can best bet you will find yourself in some situations you'd rather not be in, that will require some effort to get out of. Because we are lacking the air element in our charts right now, we have to be very strict with ourselves to stop, and think things through before acting.
Second, Mars also brings a lot of passion to the table which Gemini can totally work with. There is a high level of productivity that can get accomplished during these times. Do be cautioned though, it is better to multi-task among 3 projects than it is to multi-task among 10 projects. There is a caution here that we do not spread ourselves too thin as we won't really end up accomplishing much.
Third, Mars is also very aggressive. It can cause frustration in a second, and throw a full blown tantrum the next. Because Gemini rules communication and expression, we must be mindful about how we are speaking to others, as we could come off as blunt, rude, and mean. If the energy of Mars can make our tongues sharp, we have the ability to hurt people with our words which will cause drama that doesn't need to be caused.
Because we have all of this fire energy within us (being in Aries season, and now Aries' ruler Mars making a move), we need to be mindful that this energy needs to be exerted through physical movement and exercise. If we do not exert this energy in a healthy way, it will continue to boil within us causing physical symptoms such as anxiety, high blood pressure, and headaches, that we'd rather not deal with. Being this high strung will cause us to lash out at the first opportunity to do so.
It is best to work WITH these energies instead of against them. So make sure you are doing some sort of physical activity to alleviate the fire energy building within, be mindful of how you are speaking to others, and keep your mind busy and engaged at all times.
As with all things in life, there are pros and cons, and advantages and disadvantages. This aspect is no different. Mars is a power house of an energy to work with, and Gemini is a brilliant energy that will help us connect the dots of logic, as long as we do not act upon our first impulses.

Mercury Goes Direct In Pisces
The very long, and dragged out retrograde is finally over as Mercury, the planet of information, communication, and expression finally takes a forward, direct motion in Pisces.
The last 3 weeks have been a challenge as we lost all form of direction and logic, looking back on the past, reviewing, revising, and redefining elements of our lives that needed a bit more attention.
After every retrograde there is a 2 week shadow period which is the length of time it takes to get back up to normal rotating speed, and be fully engaged with the newly stabilized energy.
Our interactions will be easier, but we will still find some difficulty as Pisces is the weakest placement Mercury can be in. We are still being asked to lead with our intuitions as far as taking information in, processing it, forming it into our need for expression, and having that understood by those we are interacting with.
Under the Aries Sun, we will have much more balance than when Mercury first moved into Pisces before it went retrograde. The fire energy of Aries balances the water of Pisces meaning we aren't in the dark depths of the ocean. Instead we are hovering just below the surface where the light is easily seen.
Venus having just moved into Pisces, means that we are likely to be expressing ourselves on a deep emotional levelwhere love is concerned. And where love is absent, our wounds will feel that much more isolating. Expression and connection during this time is very spiritual making for some deep issues to be acknowledged and released.
Be mindful that things, especially technological and mechanical things, anything with working parts (including the mind) can breakdown with the cause still be unclear, vague, missing details, and really has no rhyme or reason of why.
This is still a great time to get into the arts, painting, music, writing. Anything with a creative form of expression as Mercury in Pisces brings the artists out of hiding. With the Aries Sun urging us to start new things, a creative endeavour would be very much supported under this energy, although until the shadow period is over it's best to go back to complete unfinished projects instead of starting something brand new.

Venus Enters Pisces
Venus, the Goddess of love, beauty, and money makes her way from Aquarius into Pisces where she will stay until April 20th. When Venus moves into a new sign, her focus becomes fine tuned to the energetic influence of the zodiac sign she occupies. Anytime Venus is concerned our values and worth come up for review especially where our relationships, joy, and personal finances are concerned.
Venus entering into dreamy Pisces, will have us swimming in our emotions as we take a look at the current situation of our love life, the activities (chores or jobs) that bring us joy, and our personal finances. Venus loves being in Pisces because she can be as lovey-dovey as she wants and the depths in which she loves goes deep. Although the sensitive waters of Pisces make for some really beautiful moments of connection, forgiveness, and understanding, we can also get caught up in the dreaminess of it all.
Sometimes we get caught up in the illusion of being happy in our relationships, feeling like the scales are balanced, however, under this influence it's a good time to see whether we are giving more than we are getting. The energy exchange between us and those we value could be out of whack and require some boundaries to be put in place to protect yourself from giving the best parts of yourself away to other people.
Because we are still under mercury's retrograde influence, we are revisiting past situations, to review, and re-evaluate those we engage with. Pisces is deeply emotional and has a tendency to become very overwhelmed with all the feels causing them to want to retreat or escape reality all together.
It's important during this time to recognize that you are in fact wearing rose coloured glasses as you look at your love and money situations, and depending on the darkness of the shade of rose, you may be missing the details of reality altogether. Although this is a time where we'd like to get lost in fantasy land, pretending that all is well in the world, the reality is, there are a few situations that are suffering under the want need and desire to evade the responsibilities of life.
There are boundaries that need to be put in place and enforced, and there are scales that need to be balanced. It's okay though, if you choose to lay back and ride the sweet, dreaminess of Venus's time in Pisces, you can definitely do that, but be forewarned that when she moves into Aries, the rose coloured glass get smacked off your face leaving you in shock of all that you "thought" to be true.
Another caution I'd like to put out there is that during this time while Venus is in Pisces, we can be feeling very lonely, isolated, and sad. Pisces is the sign that "suffers in silence". Because Venus is all up in Piscean waters wanting to be so madly in love, it can cause those in relationships who are lacking that kind of connection to be sad, feeling alone even while in a partnership.
Our wants needs and desires to have that undeniable connection with another person is very intense now. So if you are coupled, and not drunk in love" this could be a very eye opening time for you. For those of you that are single, the loneliness of wanting that companionship seems too intense to hide. We may find ourselves in a pool of sadness, wondering if we will always be alone.
I extend these cautions, not to be a “Debbie Downer” but to make you aware of the different levels of experience that Venus entering into Pisces can bring. We really do have the greatest opportunities to redefine our relationships, our values, our joy, and our money. Make sure that you are reserving the best parts of yourself FOR yourself.
You need to be honest in deciphering whether you are giving too much of yourself to people, jobs, or tasks that aren't filling up your Soul cup. Or, like I said, we do have the option to totally surrender to this energetic influence in really tap into the lovey-dovey feels of it all and ride the wave until reality wakes us up out of our slumber.
